This course reviews key math concepts in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, measurement, and data. Topics include simplifying algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities with one variable, proportions, and percent applications, and working with geometric figures.  It covers the Pythagorean Theorem, trigonometric ratios, and unit conversions between U.S. customary and metric systems. Data analysis focuses on organizing and summarizing data, central tendency, and measures of dispersion. Emphasis is on problem-solving, critical thinking, and logical reasoning.

The content of the course is condensed into a shorter period of time which requires more outside classwork for the student.

Students will complete textbook and online assignments and correspond with the instructor and classmates via the Internet.  Students must be proficient with computer and Internet usage.  Recommended only for the highly motivated and self-directed student who needs flexibility in his/her schedule. Class content is delivered entirely online. You will need a broadband internet connection and may need a webcam OR you can use a workstation at any FVTC location. On the class start date, login to Blackboard at https://blackboard.fvtc.edu.
